There are new stowage requirements for life jackets on recreational boats. Boat owners or skippers must give each person on board information about where the safety equipment is kept and, if life jackets aren't visible, clearly sign where life jackets are stowed.

Changes – 1 January 2012
The life jacket stowage changes are part of a number of changes made by Maritime Safety Queensland to jet ski and boating rules.

The changes are to licensing and safety equipment requirements and aim to reduce the chance of a marine incident occurring.

Fisheries Queensland and Maritime Safety Queensland have joined together to create a single boating and fishing guide. Download the Queensland Recreational Boating and Fishing Guide 2012-2013, or the recreational bag and size limits below.
