Welcome to Townsville Sportfishing Club

The Townsville Sportfishing Club caters for a very wide and diverse group of anglers - from the beginner to the more experienced and dedicated fisho. Members include both male and female as well as family groups, from the basic social fisho to the very competitive angler. The Club is involved with a range of community based projects such as Junior angler education and fish restocking. 

The Townsville Sportfishing Club is the organiser of the Annual Fishing and Outdoor Expo held in Townsville which promotes recreational fishing and outdoor activities. The club is also closely affiliated with the Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA) which encompasses many clubs Australia wide, giving members a huge network of expert anglers form all over Australia.  

Members of the Townsville Sportfishing club have held or currently hold many State, National and World Fishing records. The club organises regular fishing and social trips around North Queensland and is highly regarded at many of the large competitions held thought the State. From the once a month fisho to the die-hard angler the Townsville Sportfishing Club has something to offer all anglers.

Townsville Fishing and Outdoor Expo
22nd & 23rd June 2019

After a 2 year break the Townsville Sportfishing Club’s annual Fishing and Outdoor Expo is back in June 2019!

Our Expo focuses on all the wonderful local fishing and outdoor businesses we have in Townsville and North Queensland.  Local experts will take centre stage to load you up with tips, advice and gear.  There will be:

  • ‚ÄčInteresting fishing, outdoor and cooking demonstrations
  • Advice on all things outdoors from seasoned professionals
  • Interactive exhibits
  • New product features
  • Fishing personalities
  • Boats, bikes, 4wds, vans and tents on display
  • Adventure sports and events
  • Competitions with great prizes
  • A smorgasbord of seafood options
  • Kids’ stuff that’s more than just a jumping castle
  • A relax and pamper area for our ‘less outdoorsy’ friends
  • Some entertainment surprises
  • A new venue with lots of green grass and plenty of parking

At just $10/person, the whole of North Queensland will be welcomed through the gates, from seasoned anglers, to those wanting to dip their toe in the water, to hard-core off-road adventurers and local families just looking for something fun to do on a weekend.

Club Tackle Nights

Club tackle nights are fun and informative. The topics can be anything from 4wd driving to outboard maintence, basic knot lessons and species specific rig tying . Tackle nights are laid back and very social. We sometimes meet at the lakes or weirs to fish. Please check the website for details or contact us for details of the meetings.

Club Meeting Nights

Club Meetings are where the Club does it business with the reading of minutes and reports etc. This meeting usualy last for around an hour and a good pecentage of that is devoted to members fishing reports . After the meetings most members hang around to "Chew the Fat" and to catch up with other members to see where they are biting and to try and get hold of that secret spot
